What is Sacred Selah?
A Christian fasting and prayer app. It keeps the clock on your fast, gives you a verse and a plain word for each stage of it, holds a private journal, and seats you at a table of friends who fast with you. It speaks English and Spanish. On your phone it's called Selah.
Is it free?
The private beta is free. Launch pricing isn't set.
Where do I download it?
Nowhere yet. Sacred Selah isn't in the App Store or Google Play. A small group of believers is testing it by invitation. If you'd like to join them, add your email on the home page and we'll write back by hand and ask a little about how you fast.
Do I need an account?
No. Selah works without one. Your fasts and your journal stay on your phone until you choose to sign in. An account is only needed for Together, the friends room, and signing in is a code sent to your email. There's no password. You can lock the app with Face ID if you like, and you can delete your account from inside the app any time.
Which fasts can I keep?
Daily windows like 16:8, 18:6, and 20:4, or your own. A full day, a day and a half, and longer fasts counted in days. The fasts of Scripture by name: the Daniel fast, Lent, and the three-day Esther fast. Set a rhythm and a daily fast begins on its own at the time you choose.
Who can read my journal?
You. No one else can read it, not even us, beyond what's strictly needed to restore your own data to you if you sign in and sync. You can export everything you've written any time. There are no ads, no advertising trackers, and we don't sell your data. The full policy is on the app's own privacy page.
Can I fast with my church or my friends?
Yes. Together is a table of friends, never public. Share how your fast is going, a verse you're holding, or a prayer request, and answer a friend's post with Prayed, Amen, or Love. Join a circle to fast together as a small group or a church. Ask a friend to be your prayer partner and you'll see each other's fasts. If a friend writes in the other language, tap See translation under their post. House rules keep the table safe, and mute, restrict, block, and report are one tap away.
Is fasting safe for me?
Selah is a prayer companion, not medical care, and nothing in it is medical advice. Fasting isn't safe for everyone. Talk to your doctor before you fast, especially if you're pregnant or nursing, have diabetes, take medication, or have ever struggled with an eating disorder. Selah is for adults 18 and older. Before your first fast the app asks a few health questions, and some answers stop a fast rather than warn. Ending a fast early is always okay.
