Fast and pray, with the hours kept for you.
Pick a fast, tap Begin Fast, and tell Him what you're bringing. The clock starts, and the sky on the screen follows the real hour of your day.
You're on the list. We'll write back by hand and ask how you fast.
No spam, no selling your address. A person reads every request and replies by hand.
Sacred Selah is a fasting and prayer app for people who want to fast the way Scripture describes it: quietly, with God, and often with a few friends. On your phone it's just called Selah. It speaks English and Spanish, and it's in private beta right now.
A prayer companion that keeps your fast.
Every stretch of hours carries a verse and a plain word about what's happening in your body. Your running fast shows on the lock screen, in the Dynamic Island, on a home screen widget, and on Apple Watch. If a fast runs far past its goal, Selah asks whether you're still fasting instead of counting on.
The day stays small on purpose. Today's walk is five short steps: log a glass of water, take a quiet minute to breathe, write one line in your journal, tell your friends how it's going, and pray over one of their posts. Keep the walk and you earn grace days, which cover a day you miss.
The sky follows your day. Here it's night, hour eleven of a 16:8.
Five small steps every day, and a verse for the hour.
A table of friends. Never public.
A still moment. Breathe, and be still.
Believers who fast, alone or with their church.
A daily window, a full day, the Daniel fast, Lent, or the three-day Esther fast. Someone keeping a fast for the first time and someone who's kept them for years. A small group that wants to fast the same days and pray over each other's posts. A church running a season of prayer and fasting.
Selah is for adults 18 and older. It works without an account; your fasts and journal stay on your phone until you choose to sign in, and sign-in is a code sent to your email, no password. No ads. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account from inside the app, any time.
"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10, World English Bible
Four steps, start to finish.
- Pick a fast. A daily window like 16:8, 18:6, or 20:4, or your own. A full day, a day and a half, or longer fasts counted in days. The fasts of Scripture by name: Daniel, Lent, and Esther. Set a rhythm and the fast begins on its own at the time you choose.
- Tap Begin Fast and tell God why. Before the clock starts you write what you're bringing to Him. That line stays with you on the screen through the whole fast. Selah asks before it sends any reminder for water, minerals, or prayer.
- Pray through the hours. Each stage of the fast carries its own verse and a plain word about your body. Take a still moment: a breathing timer with words on the breath and bells, harp, chant, or silence. Log water, weight, and sleep. Write in a journal no one else can read. Share how it's going at the table, and answer a friend's post with Prayed, Amen, or Love.
- Break the fast. A short ceremony marks the fast you kept, and milestones remember the road. The Break Fast room brings you back to food slowly, sized to the fast you kept. Ending a fast early is always okay.
Fast with us before it's in the stores.
Sacred Selah isn't in the App Store or Google Play yet. A small group of believers is fasting with it now and telling us what to fix. If you'd like to be one of them, add your email at the top of this page. We'll write back by hand and ask a little about how you fast.
If the form doesn't work for you, write to this address instead:

Selah is a prayer companion, not medical care, and nothing in it is medical advice. Fasting isn't safe for everyone. Talk to your doctor before you fast, especially if you're pregnant or nursing, have diabetes, take medication, or have ever struggled with an eating disorder.
